Cape Town is conveniently located close to some incredible wine regions. Stellenbosch and Paarl are both less than an hour’s drive from the city center. With Franschhoek just over an hour away. There are loads of tours you can do from Cape Town.
Hermanus is just 122 km from central Cape Town. It is the perfect place for whale watching. Whales tend to visit between June and November. Many tours will take you from Cape Town, or you can always drive if you have a car.
Shark Cage Diving
This also departs from Hermanus, which is less than a 2-hour drive from Cape Town. Although some tours will include transportation from Cape Town. This tour can be canceled at short notice if Orcas have chased the Great White Sharks away.
Boulders Beach Penguin Colony
Boulder’s beach is in Simon’s Town. About a 45-minute drive from Cape Town. If you like penguins, this is an absolute must. You can view the beach from either end. There is a free walkway or one that you need to pay for. If you do not have a car then consider doing Boulder’s Beach as part of a larger tour.
Cape Point Nature Reserve
Located 70 km from Cape Town, it is easy to spend a day at the Cape Point Nature Reserve. There are some great day tours, or you can self drive via the Cape Peninsula. Whilst you are in the area you can also visit the Cape of Good Hope.
